Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Custom and Readymade Framing?
Custom framing involves selecting a specific moulding, a design to your exact specifications and a professional framer assembling the frame including placing the artwork in the frame.
Readymade framing involves a pre-made, standard sized frame. The options with this choice include, matting, conservation or museum glass and a professional fitting but the options are not required. As a general rule, a readymade solution can be one half to one third the price of custom framing. However, when several of the optional services (matting, conservation glass, professional fitting) are chosen for a readymade frame, the price can approach taht of custom framing.
How much does framing cost?
The cost of both custom framing or readymade framing varies depending on size, the type of glass and the type of mat chosen. For custom framing there is a big cost difference depending on exactly which moulding is chosen.
How can I use a readymade with an oddly sized piece of artwork?
Yes. If you would like a readymade for a particular piece of artwork, we can cut a custom mat for artwork that is not a standard size. This allows the customer to still use a readymade frame.
